By bike through the heart of the Chiemgau Alps / start in Inzell
Tour description:
The Chiemgau cycle path is one of the most attractive and sportiest cycle paths in the Chiemgau. It connects the three famous Chiemgau holiday resorts of Inzell, Ruhpolding and Reit im Winkl and runs in the valley of a magnificent mountain landscape along idyllic mountain lakes on paved paths. The entire backdrop of the Chiemgau Alps is a nature reserve.. Underwater roses, reeds and floodplain forest. Rare plants bloom on the adjoining litter meadows. On the way are sights such as the 3-lake area, the most modern speed skating hall in the world in Inzell (Max Aicher Arena), the woodcutters' museum in Ruhpolding, the Winklmoosalm, which can be reached with a detour from Seegatterl, and the parish church in Reit im Winkl. The almost 36 km long varied route with its demanding altitude profile is ideal for experienced cyclists and is ideal for a family mountain bike tour as well as for a sporty tour with a trekking bike or a leisurely tour with a pedelec or e-bike. The entire cycle path leads on gravel paths and side roads. The short variant Reit im Winkl - Ruhpolding with significantly less incline is also ideal for families with small children or bicycle trailers as well as for more leisurely cyclists. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments and playgrounds directly along the route. A red bus that takes your bike with you will take you back to your starting point or allow you to take a shortcut. You can find the timetable at www.rvo-bus.de.
